Permission to reprint

1. CC License and Permission to Reprint

Articles published in the Iron and Steel Institute of Japan (ISIJ) journals, Tetsu-to-Hagané and ISIJ International, will be licensed under CC BY-NC-ND or CC BY from the 10th issue in 2020.

All articles published before that date, for which the ISIJ retains the copyright, are treated as having been granted CC BY-NC-ND from April 1, 2021.

Articles that have been granted a CC license may be used freely within the terms of that CC license and do not require an application for permission to reproduce to the ISIJ. The procedure for reprinting articles that have been granted a CC license is as follows.

Use of articles with CC BY-NC-ND(Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives)

Use case Reprint procedures
Use for non-commercial purposes without modification Free to use as long as the notices of copyright, source and DOI are properly displayed.

Example of a copyright notice:
“© 2022 The Iron and Steel Institute of Japan”
Use with modification for non-commercial purposes For articles published up to February 2010, request permission from the author to modify the article.
For articles published after March 2010, please request permission from ISIJ (Permission may not be granted depending on the content of the modifications.)
Use for commercial purposes without modification Apply to ISIJ for permission to reprint the article (permission may be granted for a fee).
Use with modification for commercial purposes For articles published up to February 2010, apply to the author for permission to modify the article. Once the author grants their permission, apply to ISIJ for permission to reprint the article (permission may be granted for a fee).
For articles published from March 2010 onwards, apply to ISIJ for permission to reprint the article, including modifications (Permission may not be granted depending on the content of the modifications, and may be granted for a fee).

Use of articles with CC BY (attribution) :

Secondary use for commercial purposes with modification is permitted as long as the copyright notice is properly displayed.
